Pre-order: Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo Price @ Rs. 24999

Sunday, March 6, 2011 Posted by John 0 comments
Sony Ericsson's new Xperia family phones are now expected to be available mid-April. As per the listing at Flipkart.com, the new Sony Ericsson Xperia neo handset would be available in the second week of April at a pre-order price of Rs. 24,999. Yet another new Xperia handset with Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread, this new smartphone features 8 megapixel camera with LED Flash. Sony Ericsson is yet to launch Xperia neo formally with official pricing in India.

With slightly smaller display than the Xperia arc smartphone, the Xperia Neo has a 3.7-inch Reality Display with mobile BRAVINE Engine on it.

The new Xperia neo is one of the high-end Gingerbread smartphone announced by Sony Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress 2011. Xperia neo comes with 3.7-inch Reality Display that supports 854x480 pixel resolution and has mobile BRAVIA Engine for best clarity. This smartphone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread under the Sony Ericsson's Timescape UI skin.

Under the chassis, Neo packs 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor and has 512MB RAM that will make Gingerbread perform smooth and play 720p HD videos too.

For imaging, Neo offers an 8 megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R image sensor and is capable of recording 720p HD videos at 30fps with continuous autofocus. The handset also has a front facing VGA camera for video calling and video chat. This handset has curvy top and bottom edges. It also offers built-in HDMI connector that will let you hook the phone with HD displays.

Priced at Rs. 24,999, Xperia Neo seems to be a good choice for the Android enthusiasts who are looking to spend at the max Rs. 25,000. As always, the price of this smartphone might come down in couple of months. Do note that this smartphone will have Android Gingerbread preloaded on it.

Pre-order: Sony Ericsson Xperia arc Price @ Rs. 28999

Posted by John 0 comments
The wait for the new range of Sony Ericsson Xperia series smartphones running Android will come to an end next month. Flipkart, online retailer of books, movies, mobiles, cameras and computers has started taking pre-orders for the freshly announced Xperia arc smartphone. With a pre-order price of Rs. 28,999, which also includes sourcing fee, this phone is expected to release in the second week of April. Now don't take this as a Sony Ericsson India official date since we've observed that these dates usually tend to change. Sony Ericsson is yet to launch Xperia arc formally with official pricing in India.

Unveiled at the Consumer Electronic Show 2011, Sony Ericsson Xperia arc has a 4.2-inch Reality Display bearing capacitive touchscreen that supports 854x480 pixel resolution. Shatter proof sheet on the display saves it from scratches and the mobile BRAVIA Engine promises clearer visuals.

Under the hood, Xperia arc houses 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 CPU coupled with Adreno 205GPU, 512MB RAM and 320MB internal memory. This phone comes with 8.1 megapixel camera with Sony Exmore R image sensor for capturing high quality images even in low light. The HDMI port will let you plug the phone to an HD TV.

By default the Xperia arc will come loaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will feature new Timescape UI. A slew of other nifty features are added to this smartphone and you can check them all on its official page.

It's no surprise that the Xperia Arc costs a bit higher than the current top of the line Android handsets. As always, high-end Sony Ericsson smartphones are known of being a bit costly, but in due course of time we anticipate a price drop.

Sony Ericsson Working on Windows Phones for 2011?

Friday, January 21, 2011 Posted by John 0 comments
Sony Ericsson Windows Phones
Following-up on saying that they had an open mind about Windows Phone, rumour has it Sony Ericsson has one in the works for 2011. Google seems to have wooed pretty much every smartphone manufacturer (including Sony Ericsson) with the Android OS, but Microsoft has been equally successful at garnering initial interest for Windows Phone 7, if not any long-term commitments. SE has said that they were open to the possibility of working with Microsoft again, though they they were holding off on riding the initial wave, which strikes me as a good idea considering how LG has reacted to their results with the platform.

The current Xperia lineup, including the Arc and the upcoming Vivaz 2, Mini Pro, and Play, are all Android handsets, but the family started off with Windows Mobile, and should Sony Ericsson churn out a Windows phone at some point, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it crammed in with the Android crowd. By the time Sony Ericsson hypothetically gets around to making one, I wonder if Microsoft will have enabled a deeper level of manufacturer customizations. Considering their joyride with TimeScape, customizing the experience seems high on Sony Ericsson’s priority list, and probably a prerequisite for getting seriously involved with Windows phone.

We still haven’t seen any hard and fast plans of such product, but now we know to prod SE about it at Mobile World Congress next month.

Sony Ericsson today announces a new duo which continues the iconic award-winning Sony Ericsson Walkman phone legacy. With more than 130 million Walkman phones sold worldwide, Sony Ericsson now adds two affordable Walkman phones to its portfolio – without compromising on features.

Sony Ericsson Zylo and Sony Ericsson Spiro provide consumers with the best music experience they have come to expect from Walkman phones but go one step further and marry music with social networking. Monday, March 29, 2010 Posted by John 0 comments
Living up to its brand promise of make. believe, Sony Ericsson today set off fireworks as its exciting new portfolio of phones was unveiled by Kareena Kapoor - its newly appointed brand ambassador for the region. Taking Sony Ericsson's entertainment heritage to new heights, the phones - including the much awaited XPERIA X10, XPERIA X10 mini, XPERIA X10 mini pro, Vivaz, and Vivaz pro - combine rich graphics with intelligence capabilities.

Further building up the excitement quotient, Sony Ericsson also announced the roll out of an impelling marketing campaign with a barrage of new elements, including its association with the extremely talented and beautiful Kareena Kapoor. Another interesting aspect of the company's upcoming campaign will be the greater emphasis on digital and social networks marketing, which is in synergy with what today's evolving consumer wants.

Speaking on the launch of the new phones, Hirokazu Ishizuka, Corporate Vice President & Head of Asia Pacific region, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communication said, "As a brand, we have evolved. The proliferation of social and digital media is changing the consumer experience with mobile phones and the new portfolio we present today really takes communication entertainment to the next level."

"Being one of the most widely-followed youth-icons, Kareena matches the level of energy, vibrancy, passion and fun associated with Sony Ericsson, and thereby elevates the aspiration value of the brand. We are also extremely excited about re-energizing the digital space with Kareena, as we debut her social networking that will allow her to engage with the rapidly growing digitally-evolved fan-base over various social networking platforms," he added.

Speaking on her association with Sony Ericsson, Kareena Kapoor said, "I am very happy to be associated with Sony Ericsson. Having experienced the new phone - the XPERIA X10, I believe that Sony Ericsson truly represents the fusion of communication and entertainment in mobile device. I love my new feature rich Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 that allows me to easily keep in touch with my family and friends, while keeping myself entertained on the go."

The new portfolio also introduces a new UX platform that creates a unique Sony Ericsson user experience by combining best-in-class entertainment features with signature applications, unrivalled integration of social media services and a rich graphical user interface. Among the many new features, the new phones introduce signature applications like Mediascape and Timescape™ that lets consumers organise everything in their phone in an intuitive way.

* Sony Ericsson Timescape manages all communication with one person in one place. Users can browse through their conversations the bright way to check out their Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and texts all in one go
* Sony Ericsson Mediascape is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos one wants from their favourite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere - the phone, YouTube, PlayNow - and presents all content in one place on the consumer's phone.

Reinforcing its promise of Communication Entertainment, Sony Ericsson has also partnered with regional and local content and application providers to deliver the latest in entertainment content for consumers. Highlighting one such exclusive partnership, Mr. Ishizuka said, "We have a signed a regional partnership with MTV, whereby the Xperia X10 users will have exclusive access to the MTV application that will provide them news feeds and other updates from the channel."

With India projected to become the second largest telecom market globally, Sony Ericsson sees immense potential in the region for its new portfolio. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the number of telecom subscribers in the country increased by 3.5 percent in December 2009, in comparison to November 2009. It is estimated that by mid 2012, around half the country's population will own a mobile phone.

To tap the booming telecom market in India, Sony Ericsson has invested in multiple marketing campaigns that will help grow the brand's market share in the region. Commenting on this, Mr. Ishizuka stated, "Social media will play an important role in how we engage with our consumers here in India. Sony Ericsson recognizes the critical need to maintain consumer touch points that incorporate all digital/social media mediums that will give us an opportunity to engage create new and exciting experiences for consumers."

Sony Ericsson is also partnering with India's leading content and application providers to deliver the latest in entertainment content for consumers. This includes leading players such as Hungama, MTV India, UTV, Shemaroo, Electronic Arts, Indiagames, and Disney mobile among others, who will come together with the mobile phone brand to offer content and applications to Sony Ericsson users in India. The company already has over 200 active partners in India spanning across entertainment, functional and technical verticals, and it will continue to work towards growing this base to present its evolved Communication Entertainment portfolio to engage the Indian consumer, and excite them through various marketing initiatives.

Sony Ericsson Unveils XPERIA X10: Google Android Smart Phone

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 Posted by John 0 comments
Sony Ericsson today unveils the XPERIA X10, the first phone in a family of phones to deliver a consistent user experience where communication truly becomes entertainment. Building on Sony Ericsson's entertainment heritage and combining rich graphics with intelligence capabilities, the XPERIA X10 introduces a new UX platform that will evolve across the product portfolio and expand over time continuously introducing new features and capabilities.

The UX platform builds on top of the Open OS and creates a unique Sony Ericsson user experience by combining best-in-class entertainment features with signature applications, unrivalled integration of social media services and a rich graphical user interface. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is the first mobile phone to truly humanise the way people interact with their phones.

Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson said, "The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 and the family of phones launching in the first half of 2010 underpin our commitment to an open and multi-platform strategy that maximises choice for the consumer and delivers the best possible consumer experience. The reaction from our global operator partners to the XPERIA X10 has been extremely positive and we will be rolling out across the world including Japan from the first half of 2010."

Rikko Sakaguchi, EVP and Chief Creation Officer, Sony Ericsson said, "The XPERIA X10 is a fantastic example of our make. Believe philosophy because we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible and demonstrating that anything consumers can imagine, we can make possible. With the Sony Ericsson X10, we are raising the bar we have set ourselves with entertainment-rich phones like Aino and Satio by making communication more fun and playful, multiplying and enriching opportunities to connect."

Introducing signature applications like Mediascape and Timescape, the XPERIA X10 lets consumers organise everything in their phone in an intuitive way:
* Sony Ericsson Timescape manages all your communication with one person in one place. Browse through your conversations the bright way to check out your Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and texts all in one go
* Sony Ericsson Mediascape is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favourite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere – your phone, YouTube, PlayNow – and presents everything for you

Intelligence capabilities, integrated into Mediascape and Timescape, can automatically recognise connections between contacts, content and media. By recommending alternative ways to communicate or guiding to new media experiences, consumers can discover more in a truly open way. For example:
* Pressing the new "infinite button" guides you through the connected world, aggregating all your interactions with one person into one view
* Intelligent face recognition features recognise up to five faces in any picture, automatically connecting them with your social phonebook and all other related communications with that person.

Sony Ericsson's open approach gives consumers maximum choice and with the XPERIA X10, users can download any application that they want direct from a wide variety of stores including Play Now and the Android Market, co-creating an experience that is entirely unique to them.
