AT&T has geared up to venture in even more markets with the introduction of Android-based HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket running on the carrier’s 4G LTE network. These first AT&T smartphones running on 4G speeds will be available starting November 6.
The HTC Vivid smartphone acquires its multitasking capabilities through the 1.2GHz processor. The device operating on the Google Android platform promises faster web browsing with the help of the 4G LTE network. It adorns a 4.5-inch qHD display capable of offering 540 x 960p resolution. The 16GB internal memory can be expanded through the expansion slot using memory cards of up to 32GB capacity.
The phone boasts of an 8MP camera featuring f2.2 28mm wide angle lens. It records HD videos at 60 frames per second and 1080p resolution. Additionally, it supports slow motion playback and allows trimming videos for faster uploads on social networking websites. And needless to say, this smartphone comes with the latest HTC Sense for sharper graphics and better user interface through the customizable lock screen.
“The two LTE-powered superphones will be our 20th and 21st Android devices in 2011, adding to an outstanding year of Android success. We’ve far exceeded our commitment to offer 12 new Android devices this year –now including our first 4G LTE smartphones. We’re delivering an incredible amount of innovation to our customers, which is a huge reason why more than half our post-paid subscribers are using a smartphone,” stated David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.
Another 4G LTE enabled smartphone to be included in the AT&T portfolio is the Gingerbread powered Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. Sporting a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display of resolution 800 x 480p, it employs the 1.5GHz dual-core processor under the hood. And similar to its counterpart, the 8MP camera with built-in LED flash records 1080p high definition videos. The 2MP front-facing webcam facilitates online video conferencing.
The HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket 4G LTE smartphones priced at $199.99 (approx. Rs. 9,820) and $249.99 (approx. Rs. 12,265), respectively will hit AT&T stores on November 6.
