Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced the launch of India's first mobile phone duo with integrated broadband Mobile TV on the CDMA platform – Corby TV and Metro TV.

Announcing the launch, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Director- Mobile and IT, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. stated, "Samsung has always taken the lead in introducing innovative technology products for consumers that have set industry benchmarks. Last year, with the Corby Speed, we introduced users to hi-speed internet connectivity in the CDMA space. Now with the launch of Corby TV and Metro TV, we bring to India the first ever handsets with integrated broadband mobile TV."

The integrated customized TV solution for Corby TV has been developed by Samsung in association with Apalya Technologies Pvt. Ltd. MimobiTV Mobile TV service is a Unicast Video Streaming of Live TV/Recorded content where each handset gets a unique direct one –on-one TV content streaming on the Mobile network, through Unicast technology. With the availability of EVDO handsets like Corby TV and Metro TV, which support high speed data, the possibility of a good quality of video streaming is immense thus contributing to the growth of the Mobile TV.

Corby TV has a large 2.8" QVGA vibrant TFT display and a highly optimized content bit rate which enables easy streaming and a seamless TV viewing experience. The intuitive full –touch experience of the Corby provides easy access to channel selection menu through one touch widget on home screen. Corby TV supports Mobile TV streaming service in both CDMA 1X and EVDO 3G mobile networks. The handset is OMH enabled and supports all CDMA network providers who support EVDO service. Corby TV and Metro TV support 40+Live channels and 10+ Content on Demand channels enabling the user to watch their favorite channels even while they are mobile. "Consumers can even watch the ongoing cricket matches Live on their Corby TV", stated Mr Yadav.

The Samsung Corby TV provides instant access to various social networking sites and has a mobile broadband capability upto 2.4 Mbps with 2 MP camera with video recording .The handset also offers 32 one touch widgets, stereo FM radio, 2000 phone book contacts and 1000 SMS storage capability and supports 8GB Micro SD card. Corby TV also provides up to 60 minutes of voice recording, Bluetooth 2.0, an interesting youth user interface and active sync feature for push mail support.

For users of Corby Speed, Samsung is also offering free software upgrades to Corby TV. The Corby TV is priced at Rs. 9,699 /-

In addition to Corby TV, Samsung has also launched Metro TV in the CDMA market with superior content streaming capabilities. The Metro TV boasts of mobile broadband capabilities upto 2.4 Mbps and multimedia downloads direct to the Micro SD card. With a 2” TFT display, the Metro TV is equipped with 2MP camera with video recording and 8GB Micro SD card support. The phone provides stereo FM radio, dedicated music keys, Indian calendar, mobile prayer and 9 regional language support along with Bluetooth 2.0, English dictionary and an advanced mobile tracker and SOS alert. The Metro TV is priced at Rs. 6,999 /-

Tata Photon Plus Offer: Free Mobile TV Subscription for 3 months from the date of activation plus 15GB data usage free per month, up to 2 months for Postpaid and 10GB data usage free for 2 months on Prepaid.

We are expecting our Open market sales to contribute around 40% to our CDMA volumes this year "states Mr Yadav.
